Day 31 finally came! After days of waiting, anticipating, and scouring through cookbooks in search of some foods that I would be allowed to have… it finally came!
While I am allowed to have some real food now, there are still a few rules and restrictions that I have to follow. But even with the rules, it’s sure a lot more inclusive than only consuming green smoothies and bone broth soups!
I still have to have to have at least one green smoothie a day and salads and bone broth based soups have to be the main dish in each meal. However, I was pretty excited to know that I didn’t have to have boring, just lettuce, salads. I was also excited to know that I was allowed to have small side dishes with my soups and salads too.
In the past, cooking has never exactly been my forte… Unless you count mixing up a few packets of Easy Mac or making a grilled cheese as a critical cooking skills. So, in long story short, with the help of Google and some good cookbooks, I am finally learning to cook (you know, beyond the grilled cheese)! Woo, hoo!
Here are a few of the things that I have whipped up recently. I was pretty excited about ‘em!
TACO SALAD (without the shells)
First, I made my own taco seasoning with a little help from Allrecipes.com.
I then added the seasoning to some, delicious, grass fed beef. Once that was done I threw together the mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and the seasoned meat. I topped it off with some shredded raw cheddar cheese and organic salsa for dressing! Yummy!
CURRIED CASHEW, PEAR, AND GRAPE SALAD
I thought this one was amazing, but Brandon thought it was “just alright…” How can you go wrong with turkey bacon, pears, grapes, cashews, and homemade dressing?!? Here’s the link to the recipe. I did substitute the brown sugar for a packet of stevia and white wine vinegar for apple cider vinegar, as they are on the allowed food list.
I also made Grilled Chicken Pineapple Salad with Mandarin Dressing and some homemade Chili, but those will have to wait for another post… all this food is making me hungry!

First and foremost, I want to take a moment to say thank you to each and everyone of you for all of your support and encouragement over the past few months. If you have been reading my blog or staying in touch, you’re aware that I have decided to make a few major lifestyle changes in order to naturally treat my Multiple Sclerosis. The past few months haven’t been super easy and there’s certainly no way I would have made it this far without all of your support.
As I am coming up on the end of my 30 day Green Smoothie Detox, I would like to have a little get together to personally thank all of you (and celebrate getting to eat some real foods again!) I’ll have some of my favorite smoothies for you to sample if you would like to try them.
So, if you have been keeping up with my blog, I would love to see you there (if you are in the Dayton area). It’s this Friday, so come on out if you can make it!
